How EnergySage connects SGE Solar to homeowners ready to go solar
Why SGE Solar has partnered with EnergySage for over a decade.
Spirits are high on a beautiful morning in May as a crew from Second Generation Energy prepares for their first solar installation of the week on a colonial home in Lexington, Massachusetts. SGE designs and installs residential and commercial photovoltaic systems (solar systems), and they connected with this homeowner on the EnergySage platform.
SGE has partnered with EnergySage for more than ten years, because we make it easy and affordable for the best solar providers to connect with homeowners ready to switch to solar.
“When I heard about EnergySage, I thought about what a great platform it would be,” says Dave Simmer, sales manager at SGE Solar. “SGE and I have been on the EnergySage platform for a decade plus at this point, and we’ve helped hundreds of homeowners figure out if solar is right for them.”

EnergySage helps connect solar installers with highly-engaged shoppers who have decided to switch to solar. The EnergySage website is designed to help shoppers easily learn about solar and other clean energy technologies, so by the time they are linked with installers they are already educated and excited about the promise of solar.
“The shoppers on EnergySage are very good, warm prospects,” Simmer explains. “These are people who are actively shopping for solar. What I hear most [from customers] is that EnergySage is a really great resource to start the process of looking into solar. It’s a way to put in your address, not have to talk to a bunch of salespeople or make phone calls, and get a pretty good idea of what you can and can’t do for your house.”
Simmer also explains that when a customer inputs information about their home on the EnergySage platform, his team can create a customized quote and address a homeowner’s needs quickly.
“We get an email that says a new homeowner has signed up and is looking for information on solar for their house. It tells us what their utility bill average is, as well as the city of the house. And we can then pull it up on a map, take a quick look at the roof and get a feel for what they’re trying to do. So it’s pretty helpful to have this information upfront, and then of course we’ll reach out to the homeowner [through the EnergySage platform] as quickly as we can to help them.”
EnergySage doesn’t just connect installers with potential customers. We are a partner committed to helping them grow their businesses, providing unparalleled market insights and tools to help them delight homeowners and differentiate their businesses in a crowded industry. Even being approved to operate on the EnergySage platform, which has rigorous vetting standards, is a credential that drives significant consumer trust.
Simmer also explains that because EnergySage is an authority in the clean energy industry, it’s often easier for shoppers to find their company’s information through the EnergySage website:
“Because EnergySage is well-known and top of the Google charts, it’s likely shoppers will find us there through EnergySage’s reviews,” Simmer says. “I like that EnergySage has a star rating system of installers. Customers want to read about our business, see how long we’ve been around and see some reviews. That has definitely been a benefit. People have told me that they read about us and saw good things about us on EnergySage."
Matt Sorrentino, principal owner at SGE Solar, says he couldn’t be happier with how EnergySage has helped SGE Solar connect with more than 350 homeowners over the past 11 years.
“My favorite thing about EnergySage is our long-standing partnership, connecting with homeowners, showing them different products, and building a system that works best for their needs.”
