What You Need to Know
Description:
Because Texas Solar's quote came in quite a bit lower than any others, I oversized to a 115% offset. I don't use a lot of power, and my home is fairly energy efficient. The initial quote and build was 14 panels, 5.7kW total. I added two more to bring it up to 6.5kW. Now, here I am in the middle of the summer in Texas, when panels are at their lowest efficiency and the AC is hard, and I'm still producing more than I'm using.
Other Benefits:
I also have a Tesla Powerwall 3. Great battery and hybrid power inverter. Unlike standard string inverters, it allows you to connect up to 6 panel arrays. So a little shade on one group of panels doesn't draw down the production of all of them. Having back up power if the grid goes down is also great.
My Motivation:
Power when the grid goes down.
Experience with Installer:
Outstanding. The installers were on time, worked hard, and worked fast.
