Still waiting after almost 6 months...

Everything started off great. There was a bit of trouble in trying to figure out the appropriate size of the system to cover the summertime costs in Arizona. The system was installed in October/November and actually turned on November 20, 2023 so the jury is still out on the actual summertime performance. Thus far, the system does outproduce the grid. The panels seem OK from what I can tell, I've not have any issues with the equipment, or production so far. The main issues I have, is that all the roofing tiles that were removed to install the mounts were left up on the roof in a flat area only covered by some rolled roofing. I later learned that area is called a "Dead Valley"; the slope is so minimal that only the rolled roofing is used to direct the water off the roof. The builder told me that the removed roofing tiles (cement) should not be stored there and recommended they be removed. In addition I found a broken ridge-cap tile, and a few of the sub-panels were not installed level, which might not be an issue for some, but it really bothers me that someone can't install these things "LEVEL". Chalk it up to OCD if you want. I've been asking for almost 6 months now for them to come back out and bring the tiles down from the roof and level out the crooked panels; I keep getting told they are going to get someone out to take care of it, but no one ever shows up and no followup for rescheduling or ??? I chose this company in part, that I have one point of contact for all issues. However, at this point I am dreading the day I do have an issue, as I am afraid they will not show up!

Great company, product and support. Buying and installing solar is more complicated than I thought. Worked with four companies. Lots of questions and research. Lots of verbal only answer's. Choose SunPower based on the technical merits and had everything confirmed in writing. They did everything promised and took care of permits, coordinating inspections, state rebate, utility approval. Total process takes a lot of time but they keep you updated and answer all questions. System now running great. Totally satisfied.

Worst customer service EVER

I signed up with them in March of 2023. My system did not get installed until August of 2023. It took them another month to send a supervisor to ensure everything is good to go. It took them another three months to get a city representative to come out and approve the system after the initial inspection failed because of loose cables and improper installation. Their excuse for taking three months is that city jurisdiction would not respond to them. Meanwhile, two of my neighbors (in the same cul de sac) signed with other companies in May and June respectfully and their systems were up and running by September... If I am not mistaken my neighbors would have the same jurisdiction as I would, right?? In between all of this - communications had been horrible. Absolutely horrendous. I would wait a few weeks before I heard from them. Now, when I signed up I was told my offset is 130% and that my system would produce over 15,000 kWh per year guaranteed. I was also guaranteed that I would never pay my electric company since my system will overproduce so much energy. I was also told that billing starts 30 days after the system goes live. It went live according to them on 12/14. Before it went live - I was asked by them to go turn my system on myself. I was not comfortable (also was traveling) so I asked can you have a tech come and do it. It took another few weeks for them to send a tech out. Thank god I did not do it and the tech did. The system did not work as some of the panels were not working and the inverter wasn't either. The tech tells me that the system is not on. They however claim it was on as of the 14th of December. My expectation - I would not be billed because of what the techs said and what the sales reps said. 6 days later I received a bill. I reach out to them again - no response. I reach out to them again... 10 days later I get a message that, yes some parts of the system isn't working. a few weeks later - still waiting for techs to come. So I called corporate and finally the ball started rolling. I get techs to my house right away (they claim yet again my system is not on). I get email replies right away BUT they keep saying it's on and you will be billed. I dug into my electric bill to see if there was any energy produced. 46 kWh. from December 14 to January 18th it produced 46kWh. A $40,000 system produced 46 kWh when it's guaranteed it produce over 15,000 a year. In 34 days it produced 46 with 36 panels installed. Yet they insist the system is fully operational and running but they have a repair scheduled for 2 weeks out. Makes sense? I didn't think so. Now they're asking me to pay two bills with hardly any usage.

Good experience with Sunpower throughout. My initial proposal discussions with Jordan were informative and he was open to working through several iterations based on my specific requirements and preferences. My project manager, Paige, kept me informed all along the way. All in all a positive experience.

Stay away. Waste of time. Inability to explain why their bid was almost twice as much as everyone else’s. Still suggested a consultation. Provided a competitors quote to beat. Response was “In what way?”. Then in a follow up was told they don’t price match. Seems like something that could’ve been mentioned far earlier in the first conversation. Pretty annoyed with having my time wasted by their representative Seth Holst.

Bad Support

I paid Sunpower for a 62 panel system that went live a little over a month ago. After 3 days one of the panels stopped working. It's been almost a month since I reported that issue and Sunpower still has not scheduled anyone to come out to my house and fix the issue. I called their support number a couple of times and had to basically reboot my solar system, which was never going to solve the problem. While I am happy with the solar generation so far, I paid a premium for their product and the support has been very disappointing. Sunpower is not standing behind their product. I do not recommend them.
