Solar Power and Light

We are very happy with our solar panels. Greg Akers was kind, knowledgeable and worked with us to get just what we wanted. Out of several companies, SP&L wasn't the lowest price, but we felt most comfortable with them based on Greg's sales approach, their products, warranty and value. The install took much longer than expected, and we experienced some communication issues with our project manager, which was frustrating and a disappointment. The products and installation seem good and the workers all worked very hard. Once they completed our project, we reached out to Greg and told him our concerns. To our surprise, he set up a video chat with Neil, who is the CEO of SP&L, himself, and us. In the chat that lasted nearly 30 minutes, both Greg and Neil started by thanking us for our feedback and apologized for not living up to the expectations. They told us that SP&L already made changes on how they operate based on our feedback, and shared some future improvements. They offered to cover the cost of electricity we would have produced had they met their timeline, which was a very kind gesture. While the project delays weren't ideal and caused much frustration, the response from SP&L was very professional and showed genuine concern for their customers. Based on the changes we discussed during the call, I think our experience will be the anomaly, and people will have a better experience with their project.

Edit #1 - Greg reached out and is looking to resolve my grievances, will update once fully resolved ------ Original Review: This has been the worst experience imaginable. It took 9 months to get my system installed after paying in full. I had to facilitate every step myself to make sure work was being done. During the installation, they left trash all over my house. Energy drink cans, insulation, plastic, zip ties, etc. I'm being forced to pay for damages to our home system before it's even been fully installed. Don't use this company.

After deciding to ‘go solar’ I begun investigating multiple contractors, with an eye towards quality, experience, and a competitive price. SP&L had squarely won my business on these attributes, plus they were conveniently located nearby. We worked through multiple iterations of the design to optimize production and I truly could not be happier with the result. Most importantly, my energy bills have been reduced to a mere fraction of what they used to be, and my home looks great. I am especially grateful to the management team for their personal attentiveness to my many questions, flexibility, and advocacy through the permitting and inspection process. SP&L had the best price per watt and tried to design a system that fit my energy needs. The only thing that held me back from choosing SP&L was there service/workmanship warranty. It was the lowest (2 years) of all the proposals received.

From the initial quote to final install. Shawn and his team at Solar Power and Light went above an beyond for my residential install. Questions were answered in a timely manner and communication was good throughout the process.
