Solar Optimum

I recently had solar and a battery installed by Solar Optimum, which I found through Energy Sage. The process started at the end of December when I signed the contracts (one for solar and one for the battery). Everything proceeded as expected. All work occurred on the day it was originally scheduled, weather permitting. The battery was back ordered so it got installed a few weeks later than the solar panels. Permits were obtained and the installation passed inspection without issues. The building inspector complimented the installation team. There were change orders to my original contract because the contract was written and signed before a human had come to do a site survey at my home. After seeing my house, the location of the battery had to be further away from my electrical panel, which increased the cost, and the type of automatic transfer switch for the battery had to be changed because of the proximity of my electrical panel to my gas meter. I am mentioning this because I think I've seen other reviews where people felt there was a 'bait and switch' because their contract price was increased after the initial contract was signed. That's the nature of getting a contract signed before the site survey occurs at your home. Based on reading reviews here I thought maybe I'd encounter some issues with this project, but I had no issues. I am very happy with the quality of the work and helpfulness of everyone I interacted with in the process of getting my system, from the appointment schedulers, to the delivery drivers bringing materials, to the accountants sending me invoices when stages of the contract were met requiring a payment. I would recommend Solar Optimum to friends and family without hesitation.

My experience with Solar Optimum was excellent from the beginning to the end. All of my initial questions were answered thoroughly and in a timely manner. Their experience as a company really showed as they outlined each step in the process with accurate timeframes and expectations. Communication was consistent, even during some of the waiting periods (SCE & City). The installers were very knowledgable and friendly. They cleaned up well after themselves, and did a good job of matching the paint of our home. I am not sure there is a better combination of experience, flexibility, or customer service in our region. We chatted with a few different vendors and ultimately picked solar optimum. The initial contract signing was fine. However, when they did the site visit on our house (which we live in an old neighbor in a newly renovated home), they increased the price for multiple items in the quote due to us having an older home and not being able to use what was originally proposed, which you are sorta obligated to agree to since you already paid a deposit. I am frustrated with that because from the initial call when they can look with multiple systems at your roof, they should be able to better estimate. Additionally, they quoted us 15 panels but then could only do 12. Again, they have so many programs that show the roof, shade patterns etc. My last concern is with finances. They send a passive aggressive email saying their website portal to pay is working, and any issues are on the user end. As a population that shops almost exclusively online, I feel confident in my ability to enter card information online. We tried multiple cards, banks, etc. So they instead have you mail them a check for almost $10k and then do not let you know when they receive it. In 2025, this is absolutely unacceptable. We haven't even gotten to the install and I am just frustrated with the company. When there are so many other companies to work with, I would not recommend this company.

The initial discussion with the sale person was very informative and felt no pressure at all. The proposed solar package, pricing, the newly available Tesla powerwall 3 were exactly what I was looking for. The installation team was punctual and responsive. They completed the job in 2 days. It took a long time for the PG&E inspection and had to reschedule for that appointment all because of PG&E person was expecting the switch that goes behind the power meter to be in an almost "already" installed state in order to do the inspection. There were zero communication from PG&E. Solar Optimum was conditional monitoring that inspection appointment and immediately resolved the issue to get the inspection through. After that it only took one day for the permission to operate to arrive. Upon mentioning the solar team’s responsiveness, I observed it firsthand during the follow-up call I made. During the initial week of having solar installed, I noticed that the solar capacity was significantly lower than anticipated, less than 30% of the system’s total capacity. Solar optimum came back in 2 days and resolved the issue. Sure, that showed the crew missed something in the initial installation but knowing they will come and resolve issues in the future meant more to me. 10 months in and everything is working smoothly. We had 2 short power outages and the powerwall kicked in right away that the people in the house didn't even know about the outage itself.

Amazing Experience!!! I do not always take the time to do reviews for companies. Solar optimum did an outstanding job and I could not be more pleased. Brandon Chavez took the time to answer my questions and was professional through the the entire process. I interviewed 8 companies and without question Solar Optimum was the best choice. They are there to answer questions after the sale and continue with Over the Top customer service.
