Great experience

We’re not always at our house down in Fort Myers since we live up in Michigan most of the year but decided adding some solar panels would be a great way to save money and run all our electricity without paying crazy bills when we come down in the winter. It only took 17 panels to cover our usage and since we plan on coming down more often I’m very excited to have the system soaking up the sun! Affordable Solar was very flexible working around our vacation times and took care of as much as they could over the phone or without us home.

Tesla Powerwall

Very happy to be up and running. Spencer their technician was a big help getting us hooked up on the Tesla App, it’s amazing how much data is displayed for the Power wall & how smart the system is!

Unethical sales process - Several Red Flags

I obtained two quotes from Affordable Solar. The first was an in-person quote and the second was done online through energy sage. When the sales person arrived they seemed knowledgeable enough and friendly. We discussed my needs and they started building our system. This is when things started to get odd. I asked about the mounting method they use to secure the solar rack to the roof. The sales person showed me a video. I watched the video and quickly realized i had seen the same video from another company, however the strange part was Affordable Solar cut off the part of the video in which the installer mentions the name of his company, which was another solar company. I found it odd they would use their competitors videos, it seemed lazy to me, but decided to proceed. We continue on to the quoting stage in which they provide the prices. The prices seemed ok. I compared it to what i had received from them online and it was similar. We agreed to part ways for lunch and the sales person would come back in a few hours. When they arrived back at my home they told me the price again, but this time it went up 15k. Nothing had changed. They simply were trying to gouge me. At this point I told the salesperson I had an online quote that was much less and closer to what the price was when they left my home (in fact most quotes were within this range). Their response, after talking with their management, was the online price through energy sage was a DIY price! Lol, I’ll bite on that I guess. So then I ask, your online quote includes a 25 year warranty. Are you going to warranty my DIY work? They didn’t have an answer because the online quote includes installation. They were playing games. Here’s the thing - if you can’t make your own videos and instead edit your competitors videos and then you attempt to just lie and gouge someone it says to me the culture is lazy and looking to make a quick buck. The exact opposite of what you want in a company drilling into your roof and installing expensive equipment that needs to last 20+ years. I would proceed with caution here and make sure you do your homework on what you need before taking advice.

Lehigh Solar

We recently moved into our home here in Lehigh Acres in July. The week we moved in Solar salesmen started coming by the door, I didn’t have any plans for Solar but seeing how I could save $100 every month between the payments and energy bill. Affordable Solar has been super easy to work with & I hope all the other new builds in this area choose Affordable rather than the other people knocking!

6 months after paying 50% down payment still not installed

I chose Affordable Solar Roof and Air due to resonable price and review history. The salesman (no longer with the company) was knowledgable and responsive. My installation is slightly unusual - It is a townhouse with a mostly flat roof so and there is limited access and limited real estate for components. I want the required AC disconnect placed about 20 feet from the main panel. The main panel itself is located behind an exterior wall and accessed through a hatch. Because of this I wanted to make sure the company was fully aware of any potential issues. They made two site visits prior to my signing the contract and paying a 50% down payment. They are still in the design phase 6 months later. A brief timeline: 12/15/23 - contract signed, paid 50% down payment 1/25/24 1st Application to Centerpoint for DG Interconnection– rejectedJan 29. Two more site visits in March. 4/2/24 (almost 3 months later!!). 2nd application to Centerpoint, rejected 4/11/24 4/16/24 - 3rd application to Centerpoint. Rejected 05/01/24. I have sent many emails requesting status updates - almost all have been ignored. I get a better response when I call, but the lady who answers the phone usually can't help with much. 5/23/24 - It is now over 6 months since signing the contract and paying the down payment. Called the 800 number and transferred over to the Houston branch. Liz answered the phone and told me I would be installed next week. When I told her that we still didn't have the Centerpoint approval she referred me to Brittany and transferred me to her voice mail. I left a voice mail with no return call. Justin (project manager) did call me to schedule the install for Tuesday next week. He was not aware of any issues with the Centerpoint application. He also did not appear to be aware of the City of Houston permitting requirements. As far as I know they have not yet requested a City electrical or structural permit, nor submitted the stamped design for review as required. I told him that I didn't want anything installed until the proper permits were in place. He promised to look into it and call back. As of noon 5/24 that hasn't yet happened. 5/24 - called the Houston office again. Brittany is out of the office through next week. Called the Clearwater office with no answer. Update 5/28 - both Brittany and Justin have called me with explanations for the permitting delays. These came after posting this review. We'll see how this pans out. Update 5/30 - Cody called to tell me they have updated their City of Houston permit application. He followed up with a text containing the permit number. The permit history followed the explanation for the delays that I'd been giving. The current application is the 4th so far for this project. Things are moving along. They appear to be doing what is required so am now satisfied with that and the current level of communication.
