About a year ago my husband I decided to look into solar because we needed to replace our roof and figured we would do the roof and solar all at once. I interviewed about a dozen companies before finally choosing Emmaty. Bill Almond was our Sales Rep and he really was a pleasure to work with. He is super laid back, personable, and most importantly he is honest. We had the roof replaced a little less than a year ago. The Emmaty team that did the roof was absolutely incredible. They finished the whole project in a day and everything was clean and tidy when they were finished. They were respectful, hardworking, and just a pleasure to deal with. I would recommend the roof crew to anyone that is looking for a new roof. As for the panels, we were told that the process wouldn't be a quick one, but it definitely took a lot longer than what we were first quoted. This did cause us a bit of a financial hardship because we were making payments on the loan for the panels in addition to the very high electric bill. A lot of this had to do with a miscommunication or discrepancy between Emmaty and National Grid, I believe National Grid was at fault here. They (National Grid) assumed there was something wrong with the meter box just by driving by, when in fact, there was nothing wrong with it. This delayed us getting the panels turned on by a few months. Again, I believe National Grid was at fault for this discrepancy and it wasn't being properly communicated to Emmaty, which in turn caused a lot of confusion on the consumer end. The panel install did not go as well as the roof. We had to abruptly ask our tenants to keep moving their car out of the driveway and we also had to find alternative parking for a lot more time than we were quoted. The crew also seemed to not have worked full days and there was at least one weekend where we had no use of our driveway for the entirety of the weekend due to the panels being stacked there. I had to refund my tenant's parking for the month due to this inconvenience. In retrospect, I would say this is a minor inconvenience - but would suggest better communication and transparency regarding time expectations for any new customers. Throughout the duration of the process everyone at Emmaty was very kind, patient, and understanding of my frustrations. Admittedly, I called and messaged quite a bit. I felt like we were making a huge investment and wanted to ensure everything was being addressed A-Z. They graciously dealt with my constant communication and reassured me that we would not be disappointed when everything was finally turned on. At the end of February 2025, one of the owners came to our house himself to connect the panels. It was the best day of February for me! He apologized for all of the unforeseen hiccups and made sure everything was properly connected and running before he left. A few weeks later, to my surprise, we got an appreciation package in the mail to acknowledge the inconveniences caused and to thank us for hiring Emmaty to do the work. This was an extremely nice gesture, especially in today's world. Despite National Grid being the main contributor of the delays, Emmaty wanted to make us feel valued as their customers and show their appreciation. I am grateful and appreciative that they went the extra mile to show us that appreciation. We really appreciate the acknowledgement of the hardship and their efforts to make it right. Lastly, I just want to say that it was very much worth the wait! With the rising costs of electricity, it was incredible to see our first bill with the solar panels up and running come in at just a little over $6! I would definitely recommend Emmaty as I do feel like they did everything in their power to make this process easier. There are a lot of moving parts with a project like this, like getting the inspector to approve things, rely on national grid, and have to fit the work into their schedule and ours. In retrospect, I do believe they tried their best and would without a doubt recommend them for the work. To anyone looking for roof/solar - do your homework! I researched a ton and learned a lot of different things about how different companies operate. Take your time, read reviews, and trust your gut. I also recommend buying the panels instead of leasing. I am so glad I took the time to properly research and choose Emmaty as the provider.
