Custom Solar Solutions

I engaged with Custom Solar Solutions for my third solar system in five years. I am an informed customer and generally prefer to engage at a technical level to assess the current state and determine what makes sense for my needs. I used EnergySage, as I did for my first system, and found Custom Solar Solutions. After discussing with other vendors, I contacted them because Kareem Bendeck, who did my first installation, was part of the team. I thoroughly discussed various solutions that could meet my requirements with John Wagner. It's always great to talk to people with practical knowledge of the subject rather than just sales expertise. From the initial agreement to activation, you will never find a team that arrives on time, works precisely, maintains aesthetics, and cleans up after themselves, respecting your property. I recommend Custom Solar Solutions to anyone; they focus on building trust and relationships rather than just completing a transaction. It certainly sets them apart from other providers in the business.

Custom Solar Solutions was an integral part of my selection process. I ultimately went with another solar provider due to a local preference and some unique construction issues at my home, but John Wagner and his electricians were a pleasure to work with and extremely helpful during my design phase. Their organization was responsive and they were my very close second choice. In a different scenario I would not hesitate to buy a solar system from them. I recommend any one looking at solar to seriously consider Custom Solar.

I had a very good experience with Custom Solar Solutions, and would recommend them. I chose them because I was looking for a company that was local, that would do the work themselves (no subcontractors), I wasn't looking for a lease, and I wasn't looking for someone who only wanted to sell me on a loan. I wanted to work with people who life, work, and breathe solar panels. It seems like some solar companies are more interested in selling financial products (loans and leases), and the work of installing solar is almost an afterthought. Custom Solar Solutions isn't like that. Custom Solar Solutions was competitively priced. They may have been a few dollars more expensive than some others, but I we went with them for all the reasons I've already mentioned. They installed 26 high quality REC ALPHA panels, and a Sol-Ark 15K all-in-one inverter. They also proposed a very expensive Homegrid battery, which I passed on because that product was very expensive. Instead I sourced a battery on my own, which cost 1/4 of the Homegrid Battery, but was of larger capacity. I hope they start looking at less expensive battery solutions going forward. The Solar install was quick, clean, and respectful of my home. Roof work was done safely, the panel install looks good. The system performs well. I watched their install carefully and I am confident it was done right , they did not cut corners. Because of the large battery, the system also provides backup power. Today our neighborhood had our first power blackout, and we didn't even notice, we only heard about it through people complaining about it after-the-fact. PERFECT.

Custom solar did a great job. They were very knowledgeable in helping to design my system, and were incredibly efficient in completing the installation. It was a pleasure to work with them at every step.

Excellent overall experience. I had considered and researched solar for a long time and found Custom Solar Solutions. I was immediately impressed by the attention to my specific needs and wants, and the solution the team engineered for my home exceeded what I thought was possible. It took longer than I expected, mostly due to working with the utility, but the result is a system that is lowering my monthly electrical bill by adding solar and letting me decide when I draw power from the utility. Plus I now have a whole-house UPS if the utility ever goes out. The installation team was great to work with, including things like aesthetic concerns in the final installation to make sure everyone in the family was happy with the result. If some day I have another home, I know who I'll be calling to add solar there as well.

So, last fall I began to look into Solar (rooftop panels). After doping research (I used EnergySage) I decided to go with the proposal from Custom Solar. I used a loan to finance the installation. Jordan Marshall was my contact and she answered all my questions and we were able to get everything done so I will qualify for the tax incentives on my 2024 taxes. All work was done professionally and quickly from the crew that installed the solar panels on my roof to the crew that did the wiring and battery/inverter installation in my basement. I have waited to get some results before posting a review. So I can confirm how pleased I am with the first results. My January, 2024 CobbEMC electric bill was $251 and my February, 2024 bill was $38! Yes the loan costs a little more than my January electric bill, but I'm certain come April, May, June, and the rest of summer that my saving will be an order of magnitude greater than the finance costs. I highly recommend Custom Solar. Jordan was great to work with, the installers were professional and didn't waste time, and I'm very pleased, actually could not be more pleased with my decision. I'm on Net Metering so I actually send some power back to the grid, further reducing my electric bill, and very important to me, I can get along WITHOUT the GRID. I'm my own electric company!
