Dodged a 3000 dollar bullet

Long story short had kai from penguin air come out to manufactured home communitee where I live and he assumed he would try to take advantage of my situation because I was in desperate need for my power to be restored and I am a 54 yr old female that lives alone so perfect scenario to conjure up a bogus diagnosis with a hefty price tag but thankfully my instincts to get a second opinion paid off. Kai sold me on the lie that my sub panel box in laundry room was fried and would need another one asap and even thru in some theatrics to get me nervous my house was in danger of having a fire start if this problem wasn't fixed quickly. The only thing that saved me was that I had a lock on my credit file and that bought me some time to get a second opinion . Now It makes sense why kai.asked me if the park was responsible for the pedestal because he knew that's where the problem really was so instead of being honest with me he instead chose to make up this bogus story to sell me a panel box for 3000 dollars that I didn't need and sad part is the original problem would still have been an issue and I would have had to spend more to get it fixed and be out the 3000 dollars so shame on you kai and penguin air you lost me as a customer and hopefully others when they read this. That's not the way too run a business if you want returning customers. Be honest and provide quality work at fair prices instead of scamming people for their hard earned money . The world would be such a better place. I'm reporting you to bbb as well

‼️ PUT MY HOUSE IN DANGER OF BURNING DOWN. BEWARE. ‼️

If I could give negative stars, I would. I have a 10 year warranty with these fools but they will never ever step foot on my property again. I now have to pay another HVAC company to do things Penguin should be covering. Constant issues with the HVAC unit they installed. Incompetent at troubleshooting issues on many many occasions. The other HVAC company I now have to pay for easily identifies issues. Multiple issues with the whole home ductwork they installed (and also lied about.) THE WORST PART - the electrical wiring components that go from the unit directly to the house were installed completely negligently and a FIRE HAZARD THAT PUT MY FAMILY'S LIFE AT RISK. They even used bubble wrap to "waterproof" an open hole on the box. The HVAC company who did the repair was shocked at the negligence. The other HVAC guys luckily found the issue because it literally sparked at them, which again, could have BURNED DOWN MY HOUSE. They told me to contact the ROC and report Penguin, but unfortunately it was over the 2 year window after initial install that they have jurisdiction. Yes, we have been battling with Penguin for several years. They had the nerve to say they can't do anything else "for free"... that they did wrong in the first place.

Despite paying in full on October 29, 2024, more than 30% of the originally agreed upon work remains incomplete. What should have been a smooth process has instead caused my family financial, emotional, and logistical strain. Here's why I urge others to think carefully before working with Penguin Air: Key Issues: 1 Breach of Contract * They failed to complete the agreed-upon scope of work despite full payment. 2 Financial Discrepancies & Overbilling * Unexplained cost increases and a lack of detailed billing documentation have left us overcharged and without answers. 3 Project Delays & Poor Communication * Repeated delays and disregard for agreed-upon timelines have created a ripple effect of stress and inconvenience. 4 Unprofessional Conduct * Dismissive responses, blame-shifting, and zero accountability have left us feeling unheard and disrespected. Impact on My Family: This isn't just about unfinished work--Penguin Air's negligence has had real consequences for my family: * Emotional distress due to delays and a lack of communication. * Financial strain from unexpected repair costs. * Living disruptions preventing us from moving into a home tailored to meet my child's special needs. * Lost time that should have been spent with my son, instead consumed by chasing contractors and resolving issues. Supporting Evidence: I've documented every step of this ordeal, including: * A detailed communication log. * Photos of the damage and incomplete work. * Financial records and invoices showing discrepancies. * A full timeline of events. Penguin Air's actions highlight a blatant disregard for customer well-being and professional ethics. No family--especially those with unique challenges--should have to endure this level of exploitation. If you're considering hiring Penguin Air, think carefully and demand transparency.
