Lunar Energy

For the energy nerd or non-energy nerd, I highly recommend this product. The aesthetics of the battery are actually quite pleasing; I like the softly glowing LED lights and the wavy blue cover. The installation and commissioning of the system seemed quite painless. The highlight is the app, however. First off, I liked how the product sticker pointed me to a QR code to download the app and open the Bridge cover so I could successfully onboard. From there, over time, I slowly unlocked all sort of cool energy insights about how much I was saving in terms of $, how much I was drawing in terms of power, and how much my solar was producing. I'm fortunate enough that I haven't had too many power outages in my local area, but it's reassuring that in the next two decades as that inevitably because more likely, that my family will be protected and comfortable during those hot summer months. One of the best things about the product actually is just being able to store my solar power and using energy during peak load times. I tend to sleep early (around 9p) and I didn't like turning on my dishwasher or clothes washer before bed since I know it would be on during peak rates and I'd see a massive energy bill. Now I have a lot more convenience to get my errands done around the house while saving money!

I began casually researching solar and battery vendors in April 2024 after moving into my new single-family home, not necessarily making it a priority to install but wanted to fact-find for a future project. I ended up shopping for proposals at three different companies, going through the process of separate on-site visits and sharing my home energy bills. Ultimately I was very hesitant to take the plunge because I didn't feel good vibes talking to these sales folks and didn't really understand the terminology, the math, and how it all translated in practice for a right-sized system for my family. Months later, I was introduced to Lunar Energy via a good friend that happens to work there. He showed me the Lunar app UI, showed me pictures of his battery and panels at home (as an early adopter himself), talked to me about his research comparing their product vs. the popular competitors, and overall helped put into context what his deployment looked like for his family which proved to be a solid benchmark for me. From there I jumped at an opportunity to be an early adopter and everything from there was a blur. Lunar connected me with a representative of their local preferred installer who did an API pull of my energy bills to do an accurate analysis of my needs. He provided a very thorough proposal packet which provided cost breakdowns, a grid layout, an overview of production and storage, which altogether outshined the lackluster quotes I got from the previous companies I shopped with. When I signed, it was seamless from there. The installer took care of my permits, they installed my system in a day, handled scheduling inspections, and submitted my Permission To Operate application with my utility company. Lunar was present for the installation and monitored my system closely in the following weeks to ensure everything was operating properly. During that period there were two issues that did crop up, but they were able to rectify immediately without me needing to be at home. Overall, I'm super glad I went down this route. I feel super educated, did not feel pressured to purchase, the hardware and software look awesome, the installer's panels are high quality, and the after care service both Lunar and the installer has provided me have been top-tier. Most importantly to mention, their system is modular and designed to scale with growing demand which makes me feel like I've future proofed myself. Hence, I highly recommend you check out Lunar if you're in the market, even if it's just to get a solid benchmark of what a premium deployment would look like for you.

My family was lucky to get hands on our Lunar ESS (energy storage system) during summer months. Our energy bill dropped significantly within the first billing cycle. Each time there was a power outage, while PGE reported outage, my home was powered on thru out the outage. The best part was that each time during the outage, my batteries took over powering the house seamlessly, meaning we didn’t even realize there was an outage going on, The app is fantastic - great design. There is a good amount of data processing that goes on in the backend however for the users the app is intuitive and really self explanatory.

I’ve been on the fence about solar batteries for a long time, but after experiencing 4 outages last year (with the longest one lasting 2 days, not fun if you have 2 young kids), we finally pulled the trigger. As an electrical engineer, I spent some time researching various options (Tesla, Enphase, Franklin, etc.) before landing on the Lunar Battery. So far, I’m really glad we did. It’s been running smoothly for over a month now. We’ve yet had another outage, but the solar panels are generating energy during the day, and the Lunar Battery keeps our home powered up at night. My wife loves the look, and how it blends in well with the rest of our home’s aesthetic. My favorite part of the whole experience is the app. Despite some minor bugs, it is very intuitive with a ton of useful insights. I even used the app to teach our kids the basics of solar energy and how battery systems work. It is a great learning tool to help them understand renewable technologies at an early age, which is a pleasant bonus to us. This product and company show a lot of promise. If you’re on the fence like I was, I would recommend giving Lunar a try. It’s been a great addition to our family.

If you want a system that makes your home electrification journey easier with a whole home backup battery system that just works (i.e., if the power goes out, your entire house just keeps working), then Lunar is the system for you. It looks great, the software works like a charm, and it's a brand and company you can feel good about. What's not to like?

I got a deal on one of the first units and it's been great! It was installed 6 months ago and has worked flawlessly since then. Some notes - power outage backup works seamlessly and the only way you know there is an outage is in the app or if the power company sends a text. Outages that would have been a huge pain to deal with become a non event - one of the most valuable parts of the product is the app and all of the information you can gain about your energy generation and consumption. I had no idea which appliances were using the most power and when. It allowed us to optimize our consumption and it's so fun to see all the solar being generated during the day! - the install was very easy, we have an old house and the install team did a great job wrangling multiple generations of wiring into the new circuit panel Really happy with my system and really impressed with the product experience.
