If you're in East San Jose, go with these guys

Their office is right here by Hellyer Park, so they have a local prescence if there's any issues or problems. Their representative on EnergySage was very good, they answered a lot of questions and provided a lot of info before I selected them. Once I did, the precontract negotiations were all handled profesionally too. They gave us the best price on the main panel upgrade for our house (since we have an old house, it needed it). We wanted to add more panels, so they redid the contract up for us. All the paperwork and permitting with the City and PG&E, they handled. Only confusion was getting some docusign emails from a third-party companny. I emailed ProSolar and they cleared it up right away, told us they have that company do the permitting with PG&E. Once everything is signed, and first payment sent, they got the panels and battery installed within a day. Project took about 3 months mainly due to PG&E being the absolute worst. They delayed the main panel upgrade, they delated the connection from house to the powerlines, they delay and cancel their appointments several times. But I'm patient, because now my solar is up and I'm free from those vultures. Thank you ProSolar. Thanks to EnergySage for hooking us up too.

Poor Communication.

I was planning on writing a whole review with my entire experience but honestly, the main thing you need to know is how bad they are with keeping you updated with what's going on and how long it is taking to finish. My project for both roof and solar is still not done and it has been 9+ months. I will list some examples of time frames. 1. It took them a week to get back to me when I first signed the contract. I don't even know if they would even contact me first if I hadn't contacted them. 2. It took them a month to get the roof done from signing the contract. 3. It took them around two months for them to design my solar layout only to be told they actually couldn't fit all the panels they promised. 4. It took them another month to finally get the solar on my roof. And then the city inspections started... There is a part on my roof where 1 panel is on one side and then 2 on another. When the installers came, they notified me that they could put all 3 panels on one side. They asked me if I was ok with doing this and I said yes because I thought that maybe I could put more panels on the other side later down the road if needed since they already couldn't put all the panels we initially agreed upon. Turns out it was not ok and failed the first city inspection. They had move the one panel to the other side which left holes in the roof (they did fix them at least.) The first inspection was 100% their fault and if they had followed the original design plans from the start, we might have been able to avoid all the other inspections. Every time they failed an inspection, it has taken them two weeks to get a fix and then another two weeks to get another inspector out and I have to keep trying to contact them otherwise it's just not going to get done or take even longer for them to do something. I think we have had 4 inspections so far but have lost count because of how long it takes to get to the next one. I wanted to wait for everything to finish to write a review but last week they said we would have another inspection yesterday or today but I have had no update from them. Send an email, no response. Call my project manager, no pickup and you can't leave a message. Disgraceful. The onsite people have been nice and seemed to do the work well enough. They aren't very careful when it comes plants and gutters. They are going to have to replace some gutters since they damaged them and the plants, well, I will let that go. I went with them because they had the best price by a pretty big margin. I was willing to let a lot slide because I would be saving a good amount compared to other installers. Right now, I think I would have preferred paying the extra as this has just been more head ache then the savings are worth. My roof is abnormal and steep so maybe that might play a role in all this and if your roof is more standard or flat, it might be worth the savings.

Residential rooftop solar installation by ProSolar

My experience with ProSolar follow-ups has been very poor. I signed contract with ProSolar in mid-April 2023. The installation look a long time (6 months) but finally got completed just before the Labor Day 2023. Then it took over 6 weeks for ProSolar to get the required city inspection completed, which finally got done on Oct 20, 2023. Since then I have been asking ProSolar about PTO from PGE (which is needed to operate the solar system) but even until today (Nov 28), there is no clear answer from ProSolar regarding the status. My text and email messages are not answered by ProSolar in a timely manner. ProSolar hasn't called to update me about the status of workflow throughout entire project--which is still incomplete--since mid-April.

ProSolar is so far Pro-Super

In California there was a deadline to submit solar installation plans because after some date the savings benefit would be dramatically reduced by a new Net Metering (NEM) regime. We'd been thinking about solar for several years, but for a variety of reasons there was no urgency untill about 4 months ago when NEM-3 was announced with an April 14,2023 deadline (plans submitted by then would be under the more user-friendly NEM-2 system). We learned about the deadline thanks to EnergySage and a webinar they held a few months ago. Anyway, by the time we settled on ProSolar there was less than a month to meet the deadline. Our situation has some unique placement issues so there was considerable back and forth. ProSolar's Senior Energy Consultant, Antoinette Miner, was their point person for our project. And at one point even the President, Patrick Molesworth, chimed in, which made us feel very well-attended to. After considering several proposals we decided on the best one for us and Engineering was able to get a plan submitted before the deadline. Particularly in the final stages of decision-making I was very impressed by the speed with which my queries were responded to by Antoinette and in my most recent e-mail to her I included this comment: "I think Patrick knows, but you are a treasure for ProSolar. You have handled our questions, and situation generally, with knowledge, amazing patience and professionalism." This positive review is about getting to contract. I've rated everything excellent, but "value" and "quality" ratings are guesses made necessary by the interface. I will submit another one once the project is installed and we've seen the results of our careful planning with ProSolar.

ProSolar is the future

I highly recommend ProSolar to anyone considering a solar energy solution. They’ve exceeded my expectations in every way, and I’m confident that my investment in solar energy will pay off for years to come. Five stars without a doubt!
